Fucked Up are truly on some next level of hardcore type shit. They have created a sound and record with hardcore dynamics while not ignoring melody, intelligent, meaningful lyrics and what in the end, is pretty mass appeal, almost potentially popular, in how catchy the choruses are, laced with backgrounds never quite done like this. It seems like it would be so easy to get here from all we have heard and how many bands have experimented with their tangent of heavy music, but instead Hidden World is an example of just how rare it is to be great and how full circle realizing genius is and comes together to create what may be the best rock record this year. Mature poetry, history, and thoughts go into this truly brilliant piece with its roots in hardcore. Heavy, but bright and intelligent; there is a celebration in the hardcore of Hidden World. Fucked up is superior. They blew up the bridges and started again, unafraid to approach it fresh and let the songs become.
