First of all I love the old school purity of The Few and The Proud and the paper flapping sound of the kick on the intro. Anyone ever hear of Uppercut? This is the best Uppercut record they could never make. The Vocals are so up front and top of head and throat they take me back to some Uppercut, Our Gang, Bold, Outburst, Where the Wild Things Are Comp days. This record rules and the vocal delivery is so energetic and strong it buries the cliché straight edge and some typical hardcore lyrics I would otherwise find boring. Living and walking and being true and of your word is hardcore, straight edge or whatever, and can’t be said enough in any generation though, especially now, and challenging people to not settle and be complacent has always been one of my favorite call outs. The New Era Stampede themes that claim title over this work are awesome and upon listening you will believe it. “Your Reign is over!” Lyrically and vocally unapologetic attack on the way we live, calling fuckers and crews out, rhythmic at times, like many these days, but not afraid to eff it up in many styles from fast to stand alone bass or vocal bridges, and not just lining up a dance part, but tearing through it as a unit, even the slow stuff with some patient angst and throat. I even hear some Wide Awake in there too. Few and the Proud are definitely one of the bands doing it pure, with some reminiscent sounds, and part of a quiet undercurrent of great hardcore out.
