Chicago’s Shane from the Killer and Ryan, formerly of Walk the Line, have made what is a heavy rocking hardcore record with rhythm and soul and even an intro rap done, well… well actually, by the guitarist Santos on Livin’ the Dream. Ryan lyrically covers a spectrum of questions and failures, epiphanies and lies, takes on life, and thoughts and feelings from a very lonely perspective and dives into what obviously is still a source of anger for him personally on Honor Thy Father. The record is heavy and hits grooves with what it is that sets this record apart: the drums on this hardcore set are played like a rock record, open and patient and never over done. It what makes this record move like it does while hardcore, never feeling like so much of that double bass blast beating metalcore out there today. Great EP on a label you will here more from soon; Thrashdad. Luke the Killer joins Ryan on Stick and Move and sets him up for a sick groove and Chuck Chillout, who may be Charlie Convicted, throws harsh backups on Ain’t No Shame In It.
