Fucked Up The Chemistry of Common Life

Fucked Up
The Chemistry of Common Life

So the Son the Father and Magic World, the most solid track on Chemistry, start rocking enough once they get going after the flute, but after that this record gets a little noisy and album shots at atmosphere and texture on this journey instead create large vacancies in its forced attempt to be epic. Bored waiting on vocals in the record’s sequence, someone needed to scream, “Alright, get to it already,” instead of some of the lyrics on Chemistry as these songs don’t take the listener with Fucked Up. Nor does the album flow like some deep rich voyage one gets the feeling they envisioned with Matadors help. Sometimes to many layers are just that and outside of Crooked Head, straight up though redundant, the rest of this record is distracted and the band seems distant from Marbles and his throat. The vocals and the band just don’t seem to be the same song and/or the new ones aren’t that good, however you want to look at it. The background vocals on Royal Swan are like a rusty nail in the pituitary bad Siouxsie, and in other places like a bad play as in Twice Born. The backgrounds on Black Albino Bones would be cool if it they were on a different song. It is hard to post this review as its obvious Fucked Up has gotten to a success level where everyone has something negative to say, but this is the way it is in hardcore. Along with the fire there needs to be some necessity, not more noise.
