H2O Nothing To Prove

As some of us get a little older and have 'Nothing to Prove' as we know who we are, how we feel and where we are from and who was there, life's experience and wisdom come in to add pure poetry and conciseness to the fire, words and themes, perhaps deeemd cliche at times from a hardcore band. Confidence and knowledge of self, personal experience, hearfelt passion, what we believe and some things that piss us off, make these subjects and lyrics on H2O's latest more relative and real than ever. At the same time Toby and band go deep, more vulnerable and personal than ever to create one of the most hearfelt and personal records for H2O. If hardcore had a pop band it would be H20 with the catchiest most melodic hooks in hardcore on this great late effort. Perfectly placed 20 year old anthems as Lou Koller SOIA sings "We Don't Need Friends Like You!" from their classic entitled the same on 1989's Blood Sweat and No Tears, on Fairweather Friend, or Freddy Madball 'calling people out' on A Thin Line to Lou Koller and Matt Skiba (Alkaline Trio) rounding out the fassion vs. passion debate in the scene today and Roger Miret reminding us how much distance there is between the L.E.S and your TV. H2O reinvented the delivery yet stayed true and pure to what this band has been and is still about. How? With great songs. Necessary songs that burn within the makers. Well done old NYHC breathren and there is nothing more respectable than going out on top these days as there is a thin line between getting your unequal share in 2008 of what we did and built, being relevant and necessary, and then good and great. Old time hardcore kids now dads to any new kid into harcore or punk rock will be reminded, touched and inspired by Nothing to Prove.
