You Got It/Older

From Roadrunners, Two From The Vault series, you do get 2 classic records in one. What else to say? If you don’t know them, get that shit. Metallica covered Alchohol and Joe went on to start the Bosstones with Dicky for everyone new to this. Another tight re-issue. (roadrunner)

Four Walls

Since the Where the Wild Things Are comp, most of us had at least 2 Uppercut songs and some new ass philosophy of moderation that the straight edge kids were like, "fuck that" and us drunks were like. "What is that?...This is pushing the positive message thing to unecessary, if you want to drink, fucking drink!" But what is and was undeniable is how hardcore this band was, old school NY sound, hardline lyrics about how to live, even if you didn't agree, Uppercut were there, hardcore, and a part of this NY thing. Another tight Blackout issue or re-issure depending on how you see it. Murphy's big growl takes me back. (blackout)

An Elektro Tribute to Iron Maiden

The Netherlands' Angelmaker Records has boldly and absurdly gone where no Iron Maiden fans have dared to go before. They have without shame put together easily this year's most ridiculous album...and strangely I dig the shit out of it! Picture if you will German electro pioneers Kraftwerk doing a cover album of classic as well as a few newer Maiden songs. Well Kraftwewrk didn't actually do any of the re-tweaks, but several European electro artist did. Are you done laughing yet? While this set is definitely not for the denim & leather crowd, you gotta appreciate the pure insanity and (gulp) beauty of this thing. Highlights include the Acid Junkies' minimalist version of "Wrathchild," Mr. Velcro Fastener's almost New Order-ish take on "The Trooper" and Macondo's mix-radio friendly, almost fashion show runway-worthy treatment of 'Purgatory." There's even a quote from original Maiden vocalist Paul Di'Anno on the back cover endorsing this wackiness. Up The...SYNTHS!!! (www.angelmaker-records.com)
