I
just can’t help but think of Maximum Penalty every
time I see the name of this band. Now on to the record…I
like Jimmy Eats World as much as the next frat boy,
steak neck but come on now. Can someone please write
music a tad more original? Is that too much to ask for?
Here are some sample lyrics for you to chew on “I
miss you, and I need you more…” Is
this fucking 6th grade and did the singer dot his “I’s”
with freakin hearts. Grow a set and take a chance fellas.

Now
everyone knows I love the Fight and this year Lung and
the boys from NH ended up with enough material to drop
another EP on Tortuga. But why does it say this was
recorded in 2000 and 2001? Huge riffage, big open grooves
and Lung dropping his usual tripped out shit combining
american folklore, mountain man fuck you and fuck the
man. Lung makes me see his characters and world in his
work. I believe the tale and can see this thing. (tortuga)

When
I first heard the name of this band I thought, “Goddamn,
a bear vs. shark…now that’s a fight!”
So, I thought the band would be the soundtrack for the
battle. A more appropriate name for them would be Small
Furry Kitten vs. Goldfish. Another example
of a band trying way too hard to be cerebral. They sound
like they studied the At The Drive In and Fugazi manuals
but missed the chapter on dynamic. Try a little harder
next time guys because this shit is dumb monotonous.

I
guess that hangin in the L.E.S. with his peoples at
Niagara has rubbed off on good’ ol Ryan. A little
edgier than his usual fare though it still retains its
folky/singer songwriter vibe. I mean, money grip isn’t
rocking a Heavy Metal distortion petal or anything like
that but there’s a little more of an “electric”
presence on this slab. I like it. (lost
