Johnny Cash

I have to honestly say that I’ve never been a fan of Johnny Cash. With this disc I find myself liking him a bit more than I ever have. Maybe it’s because I’m getting older, but this is alright. His covers of Nine Inch Nails and Depeche Mode are interesting. Rick Rubin has definitely unleashed some fascinating aspects from this legendary artist. I guess I’m going to have to re-examine my thoughts on ‘ol Johnny. (America)

I just don’t get this band. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan of pussy emo bands but this shit is so cookie cutter that I just can’t take it. Taking Back Sunday’s debut cd is full of the typical emo “cry about that girl that broke your heart” type themes. It’s a little played out these days, don’t you think? Take Weston minus the humor and you’ve got Taking Back Sunday. DO NOT tell all your friends. And if you do, tell them not to get this. (Victory)

Eye For All

Holy Fuck! This fucking band is brutal. The fact that all of their songs are sung in Spanish earns them mad points. Old school hardcore blasts, revolutionary lyrics, gang vocals…this is hardcore at it’s best. Beat Generation did a dope job on the packaging as well. Chock full of old photos and lyrics. I’ve heard so many great things about this band but never put the time in trying to find out who they were. I can’t believe I slept on these guys. (Beat Generation)

METAL!!! This record is heavy as balls. I can picture the mass amount of kung-fu theater during a Hope Conspiracy show. All the kids are probably practicing in the mirror as we speak. These guys give Hatebreed a run for their money in the “hardcore/metal breakdown” department. (Equal Vision)
