Crossover
Sucks, one of two new songs on this collection
of re-recorded Slapshot classics, just
couldn’t be more appropriate as the lead track
on this Must Have set. Hell it was appropriate many
years ago too, but people need to be called out lately
it’s gotten so bad. Apparently the material here
was all re-recorded over a year ago now and was only
released overseas. No thanks to Century Media, much
thanks to Bridge Nine for hooking us up here, finally.
These re-recordings are “good/different”
from the original recordings we all love. Not, “why
did you re-record this again different?” New Slapshot
in 2003!

…’Cause
you’re from the suburbs and you work at the mall….
Take your turntables and throw them away
Hip Hop and hardcore that’s so fucking gay
Let’s get with the trend and form a new band
Dig a big hole and put your head in the sand
You’ll get rich and smoke lots of grass
And a big record label fucks you in the ass
Kid rock limp bizkit suck on my dick
Crossover sucks, crossover sucks
All of this music just makes me sick
CROSSOVER SUCKS
CROSSOVER SUCKS!

Bonecrusher
finally on CD with 8 bonus tracks falls into the MUST
HAVES. Hardcore is here, re-released with bonus
material. We should see more of this, this year than
the last few years combined. Programme Control
is such a good Reagan Era song I didn’t have.
I had a Broken Bones t-shirt back in HS that I bought
at a store called Asian Gifts. Shit, back off, I am
happy with my 80’s. I can’t find my F.O.A.D.
record. Ebay! (Relapse)

Thank
you Sal and Black Pumpkin for releasing
the rest of the Demonspeed material.
Kill, Kill, Kill is like a best of
collection that I so needed, as Swing is Hell has gotten
at least a spin a day for the last how many years? To
have the one and a half minute intro, that I remember
so well from the live set, to Fifth of Satan,
just makes me feel more whole. The entire record could
be a score for a script I read called the Ressurectionists.
It must have been exhausting to be this technically
dark and tight in everything they did. The music and
material was so well thought out and created with such
vision. Every note has a little evil in it. The head
jerking blasts of these songs take one into some of
the most incredible changes and guitar work. There is
suspense in their changes and one gets anxious to get
dark and open. Demonspeed always delivered enduring
work. The guitars almost speak, or yell in bursts and
chops. There is something very Classic American, Happy
Days, Rock & Roll about the music, yet so dark and
heavy. Truly something for everyone who is not afraid
to embrace a little something called Kill, Kill,
Kill. Demonspeed seemed of another time, or
timeless. They have a certain class about the heavy
way they rocked. Their roles were clear and they each
knew their craft. Demonspeed always came out swinging.
After all when you commit to this thing, that’s
all you can do. Bonus track!!! A Must Have for any New
Yorker or anyone for that matter, go to Black
Pumpkin and get it.
