What
the fuck is this? Thank god I have some Asian American
friends turning me on to some cool shit lately. The
packaging is so dope you would think upon putting it
in your computer that it would beam out the storm trooper
looking dude, in a 3D virtual performance of the album
– like the Princess Lea’s message for help,
that R2 plays in Star Wars after Luke buys the droids.
Musically this shit is insane too. It is hype industrial,
continues like rave, relentless on guitars and buildups,
and breaks totally out. Great for any party! And leave
the creative and packaging lying around to show how
deep you go. No more comment, I don’t know anymore
about them and I would like to keep it that way. Nice
to wonder about some shit. (Speedstar)

So
I did not have any AOF in my personal
collection before I ordered these records. I know I
had a cassette back in the 80’s, but I never came
across much AOF vinyl in NY, but I
had heard of them. My point is I can’t talk about
individual records and songs at all here. What I know
is they are the only band I ever heard about out of
Chicago from the early 80’s; Peers of Minor Threat
if you will. Out in the Midwest somewhere. Anyway I
am happy I now have some more re-released stuff from
a band that gets some credit in all this. I definitely
like Vol. 1 more than 2. I am not just staying that
to be cool like, ‘ oh yeah (tone like a douche
here) I love AOF, especially the older
stuff.’ I just like the sequencing or something
better. There is a song on Vol. 2 that reminds of some
indie rock, Our Band Could Be Your Life
type shit. For the Midwest HC collector, a Must Have
set. (Alternative Tentacle)

Roadrunner
Slipknot days is what I think of even if these guys
precede them. I was never a ‘go out and buy Machine
Heads’ records guy’ but really like what
I hear here, actually more than I ever cared for anything
I ever heard out of Slipknot. Apparently these guys
were incredible live and they set out to capture it
here. Did I write enough? It’s cool. Fucking get
it if you want! (Roadrunner)

Like
the old Rites of Spring records; only
re-mastered. Like a lot of that early Dischord
stuff, which I am bored with right now as I overdid
it on these reissues lately. Ask me next week and I
will be pissed I threw down like this. The CD booklet
is thick yo. (Dischord)
