Jay-Z

The Black Album

Everyone knows what they’re getting themselves into when they listen to a Jay-Z track. But, I gotta say that this record is fucking good, if not his best (in my humble opinion). I’ve never been a big fan but his skills are most apparent on this effort. I also won’t get into tracks...Just turn on the radio to your local hip-hop station and you’ll get the drift.

The only thing I wish is that people would stop brushing their shoulders off, hollering at your boy, or telling me how they’ve got 99 problems but a bitch ain’t one, because that shit is fucking corny and unnecessary. So please stop it. (roc-a-fella)

Strike Anywhere

Exit English

It feels like I’m listening to Gorilla Biscuits all over again. Mind you, that’s a fucking compliment. Combining old school hardcore elements and melting it with some of the most anthemic songs I’ve heard in quite some time, Strike Anywhere has made a fan out of me. I just don’t know what else to say about Exit English. I just can’t stop bobbing my head to it.

Politically, these guys have a little something to say about are beloved government as well. But, they merge it all in such superior songwriting that you don’t even feel like you’re being taught something. But, don’t be a dumbass; read the lyrics.

And they rock the best “WHOA” since The Misfits (or maybe AFI). (jadetree)

Killswitch Engage

The End of Heartache

This new effort from Massachusetts’ own Killswitch Engage comes off a little like a stepping-stone. I absolutely love Howard in this band. His voice soars by comparison so anyone talking all this, “the old guy was so much better” shit just better cut it out because that couldn’t be farther from the truth. He shines on this record. And the band steadily maintains a heavy dose of Metal fury, as expected. I gave it a couple of listens and this is where I’m at; it’s good but not great. This record just makes me more curious to hear the next one. Anticipation is a good thing, no? (roadrunner)
