Taking
the best elements of punk, hardcore, and metal, Thrice
brings that shit like no other. At first I was a little
disappointed because I felt like I wanted to hear another
“The Illusion of Safety.” But, after a few
listens I realized that these guys still fucking Bust.
They took the last album and polished up the songwriting
a bit, but not so much as to lose their edge. Though
“Under A Killing Moon,” “Silhouette,”
and “Paper Tigers” are my personal faves
the entire record gets many props from me. If this is
an indication of where this band is going, I can’t
wait for the next joint to drop. (Island) |

People
better stop all this nonsense about The White Stripes
and the Strokes saving Rock-n-Roll. Behold, “The
Bronx. This shit is the flave. It’s Motorhead
meets the Refused. Damn great shit. It’s refreshing
to hear a band actually playing good, straight up Rock.
The “The” part always bothers me but the
fact that these cats are named after the place I spent
my formative years earns them points to say the least.
Please go pick this up before you start trying to deny
you love this band when everybody and their moms is
on their dicks. Long live the Boogie. (Ferret) |

Duss,
Kause and Bacardi hooked me up with an advance burn
of Duss’ full record, 17 tracks from a very young
and talented MC from the WillyB. Duss’ voice is
incredibly classic sounding like our favorite MC’s
who started this bitch, he has a voice that is signature
and you will always be able to identify once you have
been exposed. I dont have songs titles to bus’
up here so here’s how they go, “What’s
your name? Duss Mitty. Where you from? Williamsburg.
What’s your game? BK ‘til the death of me
son!” And then there’s a song that has a
line or 2 from Blow in it that is awesome, it’s
track 17 on my burn, but Duss just flows like old school
Rakim where they used to just go on and on over a beat
– whereas these days these kids in hip hop are
rocking short verse, chorus, short chorus – the
pop formula – and this is why hip hop is so bad.
I gotta post some contact info cuz right now you gots
be in da streets of Williamsburg to get a copy. Email
C…Rap to get one. (Ground

Now
that’s some great punk on Made to Be Broken and
More Depalma, Less Fellini. Good drinking punk rock.
As for the rest of the record Good Riddance, good luck.
