The
Donnas and OK GO
The Metro Chicago, IL
Thursday, February 13, 2003
This
was the show anyone who’s anyone in the Chicago
music industry had to be at. More idiots were on the
list than kids who bought tickets. A whole bunch of
people claiming they were there for The Donnas and Ok
Go when they were “respected nobody’s”
a few short minutes ago. To make sure they had one more
+1 on a list, I went. The Metro is the shit, as far
as a club for a show, MGD and all.
The
Donnas; These chicks rock! Who’d a thunk
a couple dishes could rock like that. The skirt on guitar
is like the dude from ACDCs, little sisters, daughter
or somethin’. I found the bass players dumb jokes,
in her annoying voice, funny and continuitous with their
overall style and fun. Simple, girly, matter-of-fact,
hooky rock never did anybody no harm. I thought the
drummer totally fucking rocked. I’m sorry, but
I am not used to seeing girls rock out like that that
often, and there is something that makes me smirk about
it. They look more like they could spin out of control
any minute and lose there timing and just mess it up,
but they were solid. There are little intricacies and
subtleties that I find entertaining and they make me
smile watching chicks rock. But all of them are obviously
tight and I enjoyed the fun, as did the kids. The Donnas
rock, even if it is one big song; I like the song. They
dress like the female Ramones. I wonder if they ever
listened to a Vixen record?
OK
GO headlined. Chicago is their hometown. OK
I did go. Home.
