Roger
Miret and the Disasters
the Note Chicago, IL
Monday, February 10, 2003
Got
there a little late, during song 3 I think. Apparently
the first night of another tour for these guys, in which
they are heading south next and catching up with, I
forget whom. Anyway the show was awesome. I think these
songs off their debut on Hellcat/Epitaph performed live
are really solid and lend themselves to enjoying a beer
and your hardcore punk roots and old-school-oi-ness.
As I have said before, they are punk fraternal songs
that obviously mean a lot to the band and tonight they
were performed in the city and the skins showed up.
Few boots, some braces, a few fringes. There were plenty
of old Roger fans that came out to have a few on a Monday
night. Not much else to say. No big surprises. Next
time though, Roger and the Disasters need to play their
forum: all ages. Oh yeah, there was something funny
that happened. On the Note’s (club) voice mail
message, where it said who was playing tonight, they
called Roger, ’Roger Miret (with a hard T, like
cigarette) and the Disasters.’ Come on dude, drop
the beer and do your homework before you drop a message
about whom you just booked.
