Skitzonation, Step2Far, Charge, Sub-Zero, Vision, Sick Of It All Sunday, January 18, 2004 CBGB’s, NYC

Why don’t I like CB’s? Oh wait, maybe it’s the fact that you’re trapped in this whirpool of body order and ass. One more thing, the heat was blasting. Oh yeah, I almost forget that it was effing packed. Gross!

Skitzonation was up first. I missed them but the band features the girl who sang for Fast Times and fuck has she grown up, in more ways than one. Go check her in one of the many tattoo magazines out there.

So I get in for Step 2 Far. Not really my thing (sort of old-school Oi, punk) but, Frank is one the coolest dudes out there and he fucking works hard so I support him to the fullest. See, we’re not completely heartless over here at, C…RAP.

But anyway, Charge was up next. And as you’ve probably read elsewhere in this zine, I am a big fan. Opening with “Universal Tribe” they proceeded to blow that stage to pieces. Conga drums pulsing; that shit got live with a mix of reggae, hardcore and straight up songs. They gave way to “Kaos.” Never slowing up it one bit Charge wraps it up nicely with a slamming cover of PE’s, “She Watch Channel Zero.” This was the first time checking them out, and definitely the best band of the evening.

Sub-Zero were up next and damn do they sound like Hatebreed now. They definitely stepped the metal up a notch. I have to say that Lou takes command of the stage. Wasn’t really into it that much, but they put on a good show.

I’ve always loved Vision and tonight was no exception. For a bunch of old guys these dudes still rock the fuck out. In distinctive Vision fashion they mixed some old with some new. Great set, nuff said.

I saw two Sick Of It All songs and decided it was time for me to bust the fuck out. What I saw was the usual SOIA; high-energy hardcore ferocity. Unfortunately, the smell of ass was beginning to make me ill. See Ya!
