Against
Me!
Fireside Bowl, Chicago, IL – Sunday,
May 25, 2003
Upon
approaching the door, I was informed the show was sold
out:
1. Awesome, the kids no what’s up!
2. How the fuck am I going to get in?
D,
“Dude, C’mon. It’s just me,
I am here alone.”
Doorkid says, “You going to drink?
Can you hang in the bar?”
D, “Who the fuck do you think
you’re talking too?
Doorkid
says, “Alright, but hang out in the bar
for awhile. OK? The main room is packed.”
D,
“Yo, thanks!”
After
2 Rolling Rocks, I hit the show for a bit of Fifth
Hour Hero. I really liked them musically; I
will get their No Idea debut. And I
really like the fact that the girl bashed the All
American Rejects from the stage.
Next
up: Against Me!
It
was as hot as a hardcore benefit show at CBs in ’88
up in that piece. So hot in fact that Tom, who could
bear to see a girl up front in a leather jacket no more,
convinced her that if she indeed trusted it to him,
it would be safe up on stage for the set and she would
still look punk rock. Well maybe not quite as punk rock,
but punk rock enough for a hot as fuck show. Kids may
feel they have no future, no present most days, but
today they knew they had Against Me! Against
Me! do it from real. And it is obvious they
have too!
