Not Enough Gold

Live & Learn

Friends Luke The Killer and Pete Fall Out Boy all perform on this piece NEG has put out on Ryan Durkin’s, HeWhoCorruptsinc, a household name in Chicago, label. I met the dudes at an FOB after party where we had a keg of Schprecher root beer and a ¼ keg of Rolling Rock. I was more than pleasantly surprised and was actually re-inspired that I could end up with some thing as good as an NEG EP anytime some douche bag thought he should pass some burn along. This shit is tight. Much rhythm and blues in the guitar, reminds me a little of the Bronx in the way they rock with more hardcore in it. Love how unformulated the lyrics and vocals are and their repetitive nature in some cases, when you have a good one, shove it down someone’s throat. Deadguy did this. Abrasive and challenging, yet rhythmic and friendly for those who want to rock hard. Buy it and go see them!

7 Seconds

Take It Back, Take It On, Take It Over

I am not sure how I feel about old dudes, even Kevin Seconds, making a record that is solid material but somewhere along the way is preachy, attempts to reach kids with a message of where things went wrong and a better day, being a tough guy ain't cool, being a geek is, yet in some condescending way is 'all knowing' and reeks of wanting to say we started this. Minus the photos of these old fuckers you actually may have something the kids today should be into and can relate to. The cover art is great.

Against Me!

Searching for a Former Clarity

Against Me! have done work again. This records speaks on so many levels. The sheer resentment they point at this business(no matter how hard you try) they ended up in and themselves for even having to have had made the decisions they have just to continue to play what they even call out. Its a beautiful un precious thing to point it at you too. The 2am abuse, the changes that will inevitably come, what does it all mean? People will catch feelings, all stated in dynamic song, Violence chords. This record really speaks to me on many levels and is incredible. I wish it was all different too, shit is ill out there.

Sex Pistols

The Great Rock & Roll Swindle

Fucking Malcolm Mclaren. I forget the order of events at this point and I did not feel like doing Sex Pistols history in regard to when the band broke up, when this was filmed what was going on and when it first came out, but this was obviously his attempt to claim he master minded the whole thing and whether it be concurrently or there after, instead of being known as the thief he is known today or the slimy manager, he seemed able to get what he needed out of this band and make an entertaining movie of these characters he identified early on and put up to everything, talented and taken or not.   The live footage is incredible. The chance to see Sid up close for real is incredible. Beyond that if I didn't know what I knew now I'd deny a slimy fucker like Malcolm could put it together, but maybe he was just that far ahead of his time. With the regard I used to hold this band and knowing what I know now the whole thing scares the fuck out of me.  I know this may not be a review, but like I said its truly scary one man could pull the strings in punk rock that far back and I needed to make that point as it reeks and revels like so much media bs and reality c...rap today.
